Plant Foreman - Angola

 

Highly respected engineering design company, specialising in providing Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Management (EPCM) and Modular Plant services to national and international marine and land-based diamond, mineral sands, coal and gold mining industries has a vacancy for a Metallurgical Foreman on a greenfields operation.  This is a hard rock gold project in the South of Angola.  Starting off with  a 2 ton per hour sampling plant, they plan to upgrade to a 20 ton per hour production plant which incorporates crushing, milling and gravity recovery as well as smelting.  They will be needing a Plant Foreman with the prerequisite experience to  manage and operate the plant and will also be involved in plant construction and commissioning.

Hydrometallurgist - Zambia

Our client an internationally, multi-listed mining group with operations and projects in several African countries has a vacancy for a Hydrometallurgist to join their team working on a new hydrometallurgical plant in the DRC. The plant consists of an HPL facility with autoclaves, an oxygen plant and an additional SX/EW facility.

Metallurgical Engineer / Metallurgist (Hydrometallurgy) - Australia

Metallurgical Manager - West Africa

 

Listed group with several mining projects and operations around the world is expanding into West Africa and has a vacancy for a Metallurgical Manager on a greenfields cobalt operation with copper and nickel as by products. The project is a relatively large mining project anywhere in the world and will be overseen by reputable and well known professional mining engineering and design companies.  This will be a large opencast operation, beneficiation will be done using atmospheric leaching with a complex flow sheet which has been fully tested on pilot scale through to large batch testing.  The successful incumbent will be spending time in Australia, Canada as well as West Africa prior to construction of the metallurgical plant. and will be involved in plant construction and commissioning prior to production management.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

 

  • Beneficiation experience should include base metals recovery with cobalt being a distinct advantage but not a requirement
  • A proven track record in hydrometallurgy including solvent extraction is required.
  • A proven track record in running production plants is essential
  • Expatriate experience is a definite advantage
  • Must have been involved in greenfields projects before including contractor mangaement during construction through to cold and hot commissioning
  • Some laboratory experience or the management thereof is a decided advantage.

Recovery Manager - Southern Africa

 

Listed group with several diamond mining projects and operations around the world including Southern Africa has a vacancy for a Recovery Manager on one of their flagship mines in Southern Africa producing exceptional quality gem stones.  The recovery section is lage and is made up of sizing screens (+2mm, +16mm and larger), Flowsort X-Ray units, dryer floor (IR) and sorting.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

 

  • At least 7- 10 years experience in the recovery of kimberlite diamonds
  • A proven track record in running final recovery plants is essential
  • Solid experience with Flowsort X-ray machines
  • Expatriate experience is a definite advantage but not a requirement
  • Recovery audit and optimization experience is required
  • Operational enhancement systems is an advantage
  • A good track record in safety is also essential
  • Some laboratory experience or the management thereof is a decided advantage.

Process Automation Engineer / Metalllurgist - Finland

International listed mining and metals company has a vacancy at their nickel operation in Finland for a Process Automation Engineer/Metallurgist that will provide Operational and Metallurgical support to ensure optimum process plant performance as part of the process technical team headed by the Chief Metallurgist.

Key responsibilities will include:

    

  • Maintaining the process control system and act as liaison between process/production, maintenance personnel & suppliers
  • Ensuring that Safety protocols and Operating Procedures are followed
  • Evaluating process automation performance and managing calibration of all automation equipment
  • Scheduling maintenance of all plant automation equipment
  • Providing automation related technical support and training on process unit operations on a daily basis to operations personnel to ensure full utilization of automation
  • Reviewing state and level of process automation against industry standards  or state-of-the art control systems and perform capital appraisals based on cost-benefit analysis to justify upgrades or new installation
  • Reporting on plant activities and performance indicators

  • Identify and initiating development opportunities for improved operability, efficiency or reengineering of process automation

The ideal incumbent will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy/Mineral Processing/Chemical Engineering
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of practical experience of engineering functions in the mining and mineral processing industry
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in process control, preferably in mining metallurgical process operations or R&D.
  • Be an assertive goal-orientated self-starter with good interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to pay attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of metallurgical process improvement and control strategies for large-scale, continuous operating mineral processing plants;
  • Good analytical skills and ability to provide automation solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate accurate communication of concepts and training
  • Familiarity with EU workplace HS&E procedures and legislation policies for large scale mining operations.
  • Finish native; English at least intermediate level (for reporting purposes)
